The Project
The Old Stables which accommodate the Estate Office, are situated within the picturesque grounds of The Chilton House Nursing Home.
As The Old Stables is a listed building Saunders Brothers worked closely with county architects throughout the restoration. As the names suggests, originally a Victorian horse stables and hay loft the brief was to restore and convert these into two stylish flats and spacious office accommodation. As the photos show, the transformation is remarkable.
Nominated for an award for both design and execution, the project included window and timber repairs, high specification insulation, restoration and retention of original period features, a ground source heating and hot water system and all in strict accordance with listed building conservation requirements.
